Charleston, SC – It was during a campaign stop in Charleston today that Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson announced he had been elected president of his own imagination.
“I am delighted to accept the nomination, and to serve as President of My Imagination,” Thompson said. He read a prepared statement, remarking that he had anticipated the nomination. “I had an inkling this was coming,” he said. “And I couldn’t be happier. My imagination is a fantastic place to govern, and I feel comfortable there. I know I can lead my imagination to new and greater heights, including imagining myself as President of My Reputation, or President of My Self-Image. I see no end to where we can go. The sky is the limit. And let me tell you, the sky in my imagination is the most beautiful sky you’ve ever seen.”
