President-elect Donald J. Trump and his staff are in discussions at Trump Tower in New York about who would be the most hilarious choice to lead the U.S. Department of the Interior, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions. The source spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly about the transition.
Trump has recently announced the selection of Dr. Ben Carson, who has never held a government position before, to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Scott Pruitt, a known climate change denier, to head the Environmental Protection Agency, and Andy Puzder, who opposes a minimum wage increase, as head of the Department of Labor.
In keeping with those choices, the source said that Trump and his team are looking for, “The most outrageous, hilarious, just the most far out choice possible,” to lead Interior.
“They want to keep up this streak they have going, of picking the person that makes the least sense for each position,” the source said. “That’s why [former Alaska Governor] Sarah Palin and [former Arizona Governor] Jan Brewer’s names are being thrown around, because they’d be so terrible. And all the choices hover right around there – that unique combination of horrible on a personal level and incredibly unqualified.”
Trump is expected to make the announcement regarding his pick for the Department of Interior in the coming days.
